Welcome to the Troop 232, Atlanta, GA website.

Troop 232 is Atlanta's High Adventure Boy Scout Troop.  Sponsored by Northwest Presbyterian Church since 1964, Troop 232 has served the Atlanta Community with an award-winning Scouting program that emphasizes outdoor adventure, teamwork, and leadership.  With over 80 Boy Scouts (11 to < 18 years of age) and more than a dozen trained each of volunteer Scoutmasters and Committee Members, Troop 232 offers a safe, active, and fun-filled year-round program.  We are also proud of all our Scouts, especially our 250+ Troop 232 Eagle Scouts who are continuing to benefit their respective communities as leaders and men of honor.

For younger boys and girls interested in Scouting, we strongly recommend visiting Cub Scout Pack 232, also sponsored by Northwest Presbyterian Church.  For more info or to join, please contact the Pack’s Cubmaster, Keith Hasson, at cubmaster@pack232atl.com, or visit pack232atl.com.

Both Troop 232 and Pack 232 welcome youth (and volunteer adults) from all backgrounds and faiths.

If you are interested in joining Boy Scout Troop 232 (Scout and/or volunteer adults), please contact our Membership Officer, Kevin Nuffer, at membership@troop232atl.comor our Troop Committee Chairman, Jim Caldwell, at committeechair@troop232atl.com. Rafting Trip (8/28-8/29) Update

Posted on Aug 16 2021 - 5:37pm

Our first campout, Nantahala River Rafting, is set for 8/28-29. Parents are strongly encouraged to join us (this trip is a blast!) as we'll need extra drivers & supervision on the river. If parents don’t want to float, we'll need drivers (esp in this time of COVID where Scoutmasters & parents may otherwise choose not to carpool). This event is our most popular of the year & participation requires extra adults beyond registered Scoutmasters. We greatly appreciate your consideration & participation. Click "Read More" below to see the full update.

Appalachian Trail Hike and Campout Feb. 20-21, 2021

Posted on Jan 31 2021 - 3:35pm

Troop 232 will be backpacking 8.3 miles on the Appalachian Trail on February 20 - 21, 2021. We will be hiking south from Woody Gap, camping at Gooch Gap, and departing from Cooper Gap all of which is due north of Dahlonega. This hike will take place on part of the lowest elevation of the A.T. in Georgia featuring longer ridges and manageable slopes. The views are spectacular. Our campsite at Gooch Gap represents a 3.6 mile hike-in on Saturday and a 4.7 mile hike-out on Sunday. We'll need to prepare for all types of weather from cold & rainy (snow?) to mild and sunny. The instructionals at the troop meetings leading up to this weekend will tell you how to prepare. We encourage dads to join us for this wonderful hike. If you have questions or need additional information, contact Chuck Francis at 770.608.4079 or Billy King at 404.550.7099.

In Person Troop Meeting 1/4/21 and Details of January Mountain Biking Campout 1/16-17

Posted on Jan 2 2021 - 7:21pm

Our first Troop meeting of the 2021 Scouting season will take place in-person this Monday, January 4 in the Scout Hut parking lot beginning at 7:30 p.m. All Leadership Corps members should arrive by 7:10 p.m. Among other things, we will be having a bike safety check. Dress appropriately for the weather, wear your facemask, bring a folding chair and if you can, also bring your mountain bike.

Our January campout will take place Saturday, January 16. Unlike previous year MLK weekend campouts, we’ll only be camping one night, not two. We will be mountain biking at Dauset Trails Nature Center near Jackson, Georgia (approx. a one hour and twenty minute drive) and camping in the pioneer campsite at Indian Springs State Park. The state park is adjacent to Dauset Trails. At the campout we will have the election of our new Senior Patrol Leader for our Spring semester. For those Scouts and camping parents who do not wish to mountain bike, there will be an alternative hike offered.

We will return to Atlanta the afternoon of Sunday January 17. Non-camping parent drivers should pick up their Scout(s) at Indian Springs State Park Pioneer Campsite at 12:00 noon on Sunday. More details on the January campout will follow.

Please make sure you come to the Troop meeting this Monday, January 4. If questions, please contact your Scoutmasters of the Month:
